Paula Deen Cheesey Fudge Recipe on Ellen Degeneres Show?

I made this recipe exactly the way it says, but it turned out too runny to form . I ended up adding a lot more sugar and cocoa, but it was still pretty soft and almost too sticky to work with. What did I do wrong? Does the brand of sugar matter or type of er? Also does anyone know the best caramel for dipping the fudge in?
