How to ask a boy to Sadie Hawkins?

Kay, so, I want to ask this guy I like to a Sadie Hawkins dance in about a month. I don't want to spend a lot of time or money, but I don't want to ask him directly. I'm not afraid of doing that, but I want it to be special. Nothing romantic please:) So, let me hear some of your suggestions. Thanks!
