The constancy of the chromosome number from one cell generation to the next is maintained through what?
The answer is Mitosis. The DNA (chromosomes) is replicated and the in mitosis, the DNA is divided between two new cells. This is between cell generations. Meiosis would allow for constant chromosome number between generations of organisms.
