If you suspect that you are pregnant, missed one period, then month later experience cramps and some bleeding?

say, the woman might be around 5 weeks pregnant, but doesn't know for sure. how would she know if she is experiencing a miscarriage, or her Aunt Flo has suddenly showed up? is there a difference in the bleeding/cramping in early miscarriage than it would be in a period?
